DESCRIPTION: A talk from Ben’s Berkshire Bees.  3rd February \nBen\, the Head Beekeeper\, started beekeeping in 2014.  After getting his first hive he was hooked and has increased his number of hives each year. Now Ben’s Berkshire Bees is running over 100 hives and expanding each year.  It is small beekeeping business based in West Berkshire\, producing high-quality honey and wax products from their own hives. Val\, unable to spray for the fungal disease black spot\, has identified some super-healthy roses and uses them in her garden at Spring Cottage. Bourton- on-the-Water. Many of the old roses have Gallica blood somewhere in their lineage\, but she can also grow Albas\, Hybrid Musks\, Ramblers and some climbers. In her mixed peony\, rose and phlox borders she has added some modern shrub and floribunda roses. She is a hands on gardener and a committed plantaholic. DESCRIPTION:Contributing to the Spring Plant Sale. \nThe May Plant Sale is the Horticultural Society’s main annual fundraising event\, where many members top up their plant supplies. The money raised enables the Society to run the full and varied programme of regular gardening events for members – especially the shows and monthly talks – through the year. But here’s the catch: we can’t do it without you! The plants sold are donated by members\, and a great Sale needs a wide variety of healthy plants. \nCan you help by growing and potting up some spare plants from your garden and greenhouse? Every single plant you contribute helps our Society thrive . Easy ways to help No matter your gardening skills\, here’s how you can pitch in: ● Veggies & herbs : Sow a few extra seeds this year—or donate spares after planting your vegetable beds. ● Bedding plants : Sow the whole packet of seeds and pot up those you don’t need for your decorative pots or borders. ● Leftover shop-bought plants : Bought a tray but won’t use it all? Share the extras—no need to repot if it’s close to the sale. ● Garden Divisions : Split overcrowded plants or pot up ones you no longer want. (Don’t know the name or variety? We’ll figure it out!) ● Cuttings : Propagating plants from cuttings etc? Pass along any you don’t need. Healthy specimens of all the plant types above always sell well and are very welcome. DESCRIPTION:Katherine Crouch Dahlias 1st September \nKatherine is addicted to dahlias. She has been clean for 12 years since she grew 40 dahlias in a field and had no end of fun selling them outside her house opposite Donyatt church. She also grew zinnias\, cleome\, Euphorbia oblongata and golden rod to bulk out the bunches. She will be bringing bunches of her own favourites. Katharine won BBC BBC Gardener of the Year competition in 1999\, BBC Gardener of the Decade in 2008 and  also won a Gold medal at Chelsea Flower Show for designing a display for Kings Seeds 125th anniversary. \nDoors on 7.30pm  talk starts at 7.45pm raffle & tea as usual. £1 Members & £2 Non-Members please do share the details with anyone who may be interested.

DESCRIPTION:Nikki runs a successful organic gardening consultancy and garden design service. She holds the prestigious title of Royal Horticultural Society Master of Horticulture and has a diploma in professional garden design from the Cotswold Gardening School.  \nNikki has worked as an assistant gardener at Highgrove for HRH Prince of Wales and also spent time working at Sting’s Lake House\, The Abbey House\, Malmesbury and leading designer Anoushka Hempel’s Cole Park.   \nNikki adores tomatoes and has grown them for herself and clients for many years. Her talk ‘Talking Tomatoes’ will share growing tricks aplenty and lots of great variety recommendations. All of her talks include lots of fantastic photos that she has taken throughout her years of being a professional gardener. Nikki will be bringing along some of her own heritage and heirloom variety seeds for sale. They are £3 per packet or £5 for two packets. \nMembers £2 Non Members £4 which includes refreshments & raffle
